Apply for an Italian passport

PLEASE NOTE: Citizens residing in the district of Manchester who already have a Prenot@mi account and are registered with the Consulate General in London will have to select “United Kingdom – Manchester, Consulate of Italy” as their pertinent site, via the “Change Consulate” option. Those who do not have a Prenot@mi account will have to register on the portal and select “United Kingdom – Manchester, Consulate of Italy” as their pertinent site from the start.

In order to book an appointment to request a passport at the Consulate General in London, presupposes as a requirement that the Italian citizen is regularly registered in the London AIRE catchment area (Registry of Italians Resident Abroad).

Prior to applying for a passport, please ensure that your birth certificate has been formally registered with the Italian authorities (Town Hall/Comune A.I.R.E.). In the event that your birth certificate is NOT registered in Italy, the original birth certificate (legalised with apostille and an Italian translation) must be presented with your passport application.

The above mentioned is applicable to all Italian Citizens regardless if you were in possession of a previous passport, and in particular to those:

  • That where born abroad (outside of Italy);
  • Or that have acquired their Italian Citizenship abroad or in Italy (but not via the Italian Consulate General in London);
  • Or that have acquired their Italian Citizenship abroad or in Italy via marriage (but not via the Italian Consulate General in London).
