However, not all services require personal attendance as some can be processed by post or by email.  HOW CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

To make an appointment for the first time you must register with your details and an email address (this is an essential requirement). You will receive a confirmation email of your registration which will allow you to activate your account and will give you access to the online booking system (NB: if you have a free email account, e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail, Terra, Gmail, etc., the confirmation email may not arrive immediately and may go to your “Junk” or “Spam” folders, so please check them).

Once you have successfully registered, you can access your account by entering your username/password and then clicking on “Login”. You then need to select the office you require. NB: to book an appointment you must click on the office required, NOT on the white envelope which only sends an email to the Consulate.

As the system is automatic and non-manned, you will need to manage your account yourself. Consular officers cannot override the system. Please note that appointment booking times only become available for a short while according to the service required (from 30 to 90 days, extended on a daily basis). If there are no dates available (marked in green), but only red or black dates, this does not mean the system is not working. On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thurdays at 7pm (UK time) the “Prenota Online” system releases the first date following the interval. Given the high volume of requests, places fill up quickly from 7pm sharp.
Therefore if you do not find any available dates in the calendar, you need to wait and try the following day.
You are also advised to check frequently in case further appointments are added or if there are any appointment cancellations.

NB: the appointments system will only function properly if a) personal details are inserted correctly, and b) if due respect is shown for the needs of other people who find themselves in the same situation. In order to help us provide a satisfactory service, please cancel any appointments that are no longer required

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please be advised that, due to a technical issue beyond the Consulate General’s control, communication difficulties with Microsoft email providers (Hotmail, Live and Outlook) have been experienced. Users registered with Hotmail, Live and Outlook.com may not receive emails from this Consulate General (including the Prenota Online account activation request).
For urgent communications and to register with the Prenota Online service, please use a different email provider to the ones listed above.
Users will be promptly informed as soon as the service is resumed.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

We strongly advise you check the relevant page of our website relating to the service required for the procedures to be followed when you arrive at the Consulate for your appointment (e.g. forms to be filled in, consular fees, etc.).

For security reasons, please do not bring any suitcases, large items, backpacks or pushchairs into the Consulate. The Consulate is not responsible for any items left either inside or outside our building.

Please be aware that all passports for children under 12 can be applied for by post: however, should you prefer to make an appointment for this service, please note that children under 12 do not need to attend the Consulate in person. Likewise, the registration of birth certificates for all children under 18 can be applied for by post: however, should you prefer to make an appointment for this service, please note that children under 18 do not need to attend the Consulate in person.

Payments of consular fees can be made in cash (GBP), with a postal order or with a UK debit card, for which there is a £0,50 fee levied directly by the Bank. The various consular fees are available on our website under “Useful information – Consular fees”.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the complexity of the handling passport applications at the counter and the controls involved for each applicant, plus the requirement for Italian nationals to be present for the issue of Emergency Travel Documents, the time slot assigned by the “Prenota Online” system may differ from the actual time in which applicants will be seen at the counter. Whilst encouraging the utmost punctuality at the appointment, we apologise in advance for any delay.
