IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ITALIAN AND FOREIGN NATIONALS IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND – OPENING OF THE NEW CONSULATE IN MANCHESTER – USE OF CONSULAR SERVICES FROM 30TH MAY 2022

This is to inform you that, in view of the opening of the new Consulate of Italy in Manchester scheduled for Monday 18th of July, jurisdiction for the provision of consular services in the north of England will be transferred to the new consular office, which will notify the opening date in the next few weeks.

The consular district of the Manchester Consulate will comprise the counties between the metropolitan area of Birmingham (included) and the border with Scotland (map here)

From Monday 30th May 2022, Italian and foreign nationals residing in the new consular district will be able to book appointments according to the procedures made available by the Manchester Consulate. They will therefore no longer be able to access booking services offered by the Consulate General of Italy in London. Appointments already made will be guaranteed by this Consulate General until the opening date of the Manchester Office. After that date, they will be transferred to the new Consulate which will reschedule the appointments and inform the interested parties.

As regards consular services by post (e.g. passaports for minor under 12, declarations of value, driving licence renewals and repatriation certificates), applications received by 29th May will be processed by the Consulate General of Italy in London. Applications received after that date will be returned to sender. We therefore recommend to address applications correctly in order to avoid additional postal costs and delays in obtaining the services requested.

Please note that the honorary consular offices that will fall within the jurisdition of the Manchester Consulate of Italy are as follows: the Honorary Consulate in Liverpool, the Honorary Vice Consulates in Birmingham and Nottingham, and the Honorary Consular Agency in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Please be assured that during this transitional period and until the opening of the Manchester Consulate, the Consulate General of Italy in London shall continue to provide consular service of a proven urgency to all Italian nationals residing in England and Wales.
