REOPENING OF PASSPORT APPOINTMENT BOOKING SERVICES (from 23rd of Sept

The Consulate General announces that, having concluded the rebooking of the appointments originally set between the end of March and the end of June, the two booking systems for the issue / renewal of passports (the Call Centre available from 8:15 to 12:30 Monday to Friday, and the Online Booking System) will reopen starting on September 23.

IMPORTANT – please read the following carefully.

In order to allow the greatest number of persons to obtain an appointment, starting on September 23 the Passport Office will check for all requirements BEFORE the passport appointment. In case of failure to meet the requirements, the missing documents that make it impossible to issue the passport will be communicated to the interested party, and the appointment will be cancelled without the possibility of adding the missing documentation. It is therefore highly recommended to check ahead of time if you have all the required documents.

Furthermore, please note that:

1. The service is reserved solely and exclusively for Italian citizens registered in AIRE at the Consulate General of Italy in London.

2. For Italian citizens born outside of Italy, the issuing of the passport is subject to the registration of the birth certificate by the Italian municipality of AIRE registration.

3. For Italian citizens who are parents of minors, please take note that it is necessary to obtain the consent of the other parent BEFORE the appointment, regardless of the existing relationship status. For further information, please consult the appropriate section of the Consulate website.

ONLINE BOOKING

It is advisable to use the online tool for booking, as it has more than twice as many appointments daily as the telephone system (Call Center).

CALL CENTRE

Please be advised that the telephone switchboard has 24 lines, and a queue and call-back system. It is advisable to use the call-back system in order to avoid the possibility of the line dropping while waiting in the queue. Please allow access to the telephone appointment system to those people less familiar with online procedures.

APPOINTMENT CALENDAR

Please note that the available appointment calendar never exceeds 12 weeks (Online Booking) and 14 weeks (Call Centre) from the day of booking. At full capacity, beyond this time frame, it is normal to see no available slots. In this phase of gradual reopening and until the calendar is full, a number of slots corresponding to several days of appointments will be unlocked every day at 19:00. After this phase, a new day of appointments will “open up” every day.

EMERGENCIES

Access to emergency documents (passport or ETD) without an appointment is always possible, in the manner indicated on the relevant web page.

COVID-19 EMERGENCY

To access the Consulate it is mandatory to wear a face mask and to undergo a temperature check (if above 37.5 degrees, entry to the Consulate will not be allowed). We urge you to use disposable gloves or the alcoholic gel located at the entrance and in the waiting rooms.

Please note that, in order to ensure social distancing within the waiting room, only those who have an appointment will be admitted to the Consulate. Any accompanying adults may enter only for the time strictly necessary to complete the request or in case they need to provide assistance. Wherever possible, it is recommended not to be accompanied by minors if the appointments are not for them.
