Frequently Asked Questions about booking an appointmenT

Access to most Consular Services is only allowed with an appointment

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Not all consular services can be booked via the Prenota OnLine booking system platform, therefore you are strongly advised to check the corresponding consular services section within our website to ascertain whether or not an appointment is required.

Q:        I am unable/don’t understand how to register on the Prenota OnLine for the first time.
A:        STEP 1

(N.B: if already registered go to STEP3)

Go to the page PRENOTA ON LINE

In the screenshot Create an Account, insert all the details requested. Remember that all details are required in order to proceed.  Once you have filled in  your details, click on the tab Confirm

STEP 2

Go to your mailbox (the email address you have used to register as the username), whereby you will receive a confirmation email.  Open the email and click on the link to validate/activate your Prenota OnLine account.

ATTENTION: If you are using a free email provider – eg.  Yahoo, Hotmail, Terra, Gmail, etc, it’s possible that the confirmation email may have been trapped in your SPAM Box; hence it’s worth checking your spam box first.  Alternatively try to add the following “from” email address “noReply_pol@esteri.it” to your email “Contacts” section.

STEP 3

Once you have registered and activated your account as per STEP2, you may access the booking platform PRENOTA ON LINE.  To access, go to the top right hand side of the page and insert, where required, your Username and Password followed by the tab "Login"

STEP 4

Once successfully logged in, click on the button Prenota On-line on the left hand side of the page/navigation bar.

STEP 5

From the list of services, make your selection, and follow the instructions on screen as you may be required to insert additional details prior to selecting your date and time.

Once you have carried out all the instructions on screen, click on the tab Confirm.

STEP 6

Select the day and time of your appointment. That’s it.

Please note that you will not receive any email confirmation of any appointment, so make a note of the date and time or print the screen page.

Q:        The system does not allow me to continue; it say that I am already registered, how come?
A:        This is due to the fact that you or another member of your family (even without your knowledge) has already used/registered your details or email (username) in our system.  In this instance, kindly use the section “Forgotten password” on the top right hand side of the PRENOTA ON LINE page.

Alternatively, if you are still experiencing  problems logging into the system, you may contact the Passport Office by filling in a “Contact Us” form available on our website (click here).

Q:        I do not remember my Username and/or Password
A:        In this instance, kindly use the section “Forgotten password” on the top right hand side of the PRENOTA ON LINE page.

Alternatively, if you are still experiencing  problems logging into the system, you may contact the Passport Office by filling in a “Contact Us” form available on our website (click here).

Q:        I am unable to book an appointment, the system shows all dates in red or in black (without giving me the ability to choose)
A:        The system will permit a registed user to book an appointment online, on the day and time suited to the user.

As this is an automated system – hence not managed by a Consular operator, it’s necessary that the registered user creates and manages his/her account.  Due to internal procedures, as well as to enable Consulates to manage the flow of the daily appointments to their full capacity, the availabilities of future appointments are blocked into intervals of 9 weeks. It is therefore advisable to frequently check the calender availability in case of additional dates being released; together with cancellations from users of dates that were previously booked (these tend to happen quite often)
