Italian nationals not residing in the Consulate catchment area
  • Emergencies – Different types of assistance (also economic), for Italians only temporarily in the consular district; liaising with Italian and local authorities; contacts with families.
  • Health assistance – same as Italians residing in the consulate catchment area; certificates for health services provided by institutions located in the consulate catchment area.
    PLEASE NOTE: starting from 01/07/04, EC Regulation no. 631 (published on GUCE L100 of 06/04/04) guarantees the provision of health services to insured community citizens, temporarily residing in any one of the EU countries, "provided they need care" (beforehand only “immediately necessary“ care was provided in another EU country). It is advisable to obtain a European Health Card before leaving Italy.
  • Tracing people – Liaising with local authorities; liaising with the person found, if and when requested.
  • Assistance to Italian prisoners in UK – Information provided to prisoners for transfer to Italian prisons (according to the Strasbourg Convention of 1983), information and assistance to family members, consular visits to prisoners.
  • Assistance to persons admitted to hospital.
  • Compliance with The Hague Convention - (1980 and subsequent amendments) relating to the international abduction of minors by a parent.
  • Doctor’s home visits for administrative purposes.
