Italian nationals residing in the catchment area of the Consulate

ONLY FOR ITALIAN NATIONALS RESIDING IN THE CATCHMENT AREA OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF ITALY IN LONDON:

The Welfare Office offers Italians residing in the UK, and only in particular cases to non-residents, the following services.

  • Assistance to families – interventions in terms of social security and legal assistance with the local authorities, with particular emphasis on the protection of minors.
  • Health assistance – Information and interventions with the local and Italian health authorities.
  • Stamping of health documentation issued by well-known health institutions.
  • Assistance to Italian nationals in difficulty – Interventions for Italians residing in the UK in difficulty which may be proven; information on accommodation.
  • Transfer of human remains to Italy – Issue of the relevant documentation for the purposes of transferring human remains into the territory of the Italian Republic.
  • Pensions – General information and interventions with Italian and British social security institutions. Checking periodically whether the pensioners are alive for the purposes of paying the monthly amounts accrued.  
  • Tax information – Please visit the website of the British Inland Revenue (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/).
  • Doctor’s home visits for administrative purposes – They are carried out by the doctors appointed by this Consulate General to check that absences due to an illness are justified.
  • Accommodation – This service is offered to those who are in difficulty finding accommodation. Click here to download a list of accommodation available.
  • Travelling with pets – To travel to Italy with a pet you need a pets passport. Please visit the following official website of the Department of Food and Rural Affairs: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/index.htm. More information in the website FAQ section.
  • Allocation of council properties – Full list of the Italian Comuni (town halls) which advertise the council properties available and the requirements to fulfill to be eligible for them. Please also visit the specific website section of the Embassy of Italy in London and the website of your Italian comune for all the relevant information (www.comuni.it).
  • Repatriation – Issue of repatriation certificates, certificate of vaccinations and inoculations carried out in the UK. To be able to use this service you must be registered with the AIRE office.

TO REGISTER A DEATH please send by post to the WELFARE OFFICE of the Consulate:

  • legalized death certificate (legalized certified copy issued by the British Register Office). Photocopies are not accepted;
  • translation into Italian and legalisation of the British certificate (click here);  
  • application to register a british certificate of Death (cliccare qui);
  • photocopy of the passport of the deceased.
