Certificates of Discharge

CERTIFICATES OF DISCHARGE

This Consulate General is competent for validating certificates of discharge of seafarers registered in the Italian National Register of Seamen, if either of these two conditions applies:

A - the discharge refers to a period of employment aboard vessels flying UK, IOM, Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar flag,

OR

B- the disembarkation declared in the discharge took place in a port of said territories.

Please note that, for all abovementioned cases, it is possible to obtain validation of the certificate of discharge also from the relevant Honorary Consulate.

In case of doubts, it is possible to verify the relevant Consulate for the specific case at this webpage, or sending and inquiry to notarile.londra@esteri.it.

Seafarers wishing to obtain validation of certificates of discharge from this Consulate General will need to follow the exceptional postal procedure currently in place.

Accordingly, it will be first necessary to send the following documentation via e-mail to notarile.londra@esteri.it:

FOR CERTIFICATES OF DISCHARGE SIGNED BY MASTERS

  • Scan of the certificate of discharge, filled-in in full and bearing ship’s stamp and master’s signature;
  • Scan of the seafarer’s valid passport or Italian ID Card;
  • Scan of the seafarer’s Seaman’s Book;
  • Scan of the Master’s valid passport or Italian ID Card;
  • Scan of the ship’s Certificate of Registry;
  • Scan of the crew list.

FOR CERTIFICATES SIGNED BY A PORT AUTHORITY OFFICER

  • Scan of the certificate of discharge, bearing the Port Authority’s stamp and the officer’s signature;
  • Scan of the seafarer’s valid passport or Italian ID Card;
  • Scan of the seafarer’s Seaman’s Book.

PLEASE NOTE: This email should also indicate the address where the validated certificate of discharge should be delivered.

After having checked and verified these documents, one of our officers will reply to the applicant requesting them to send the relevant paperwork to our Office via the post (ORIGINAL certificate of discharge and photocopies of the other documents) and providing information about the payment for the applicable Consular fees (art. 69) and postal charges for delivering the validated discharge to the address indicated (from 8.75£).
