Please note that this Consulate General does not carry out translations nor does it issue certificates of translation conformity, except for "dichiarazioni di valore" (declarations of equal value) of British qualifications and the registration of vital events certificates of Italian nationals in Italy (as well as some other cases provided for by specific regulations).

Those who need to translate documents from English into Italian have one of the following options:

  1. use a sworn translator in Italy (the relevant lists are available at Italian law courts)
  2. have a pre-prepared translation certified by one of the Italian law courts or Italian "comuni" (town halls)
  3. have the documents translated by professional UK translators, and then legalised by a British notary public and by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office who will subsequently apostil it.

Those who need to translate documents from Italian into English will need to contact a professional translator from the Yellow Pages, on the internet or alternatively please contact one of the translators in this list (click here).
