The Consul General

Born in Rome on 15th September 1962.

He graduated from the University of Milan with law degree in 1986, with a dissertation on international law.

From 1987 to 1991 he continued his studies and research at the Chair of international law of the Istituto Universitario Navale in Naples.

In March 1992 he started his diplomatic career and was appointed at the Servizio Stampa e Informazione (Press Office) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In August 1996 he was appointed Consul of Italy in Brussels and, in April 2000, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Italy in Tunis.

In January 2004 he returned to Italy where he held the position of Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Employment and Social Policies, and dealt, amongst other things, with coordinating the participation in EPSCO Councils within the EU and in the ILO General Assembly.

In May 2006 he was appointed Chief of the Press Office of the Farnesina.

In Aprl 2008 he was appointed Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of the Interior where he oversaw, amongst other things, the coordination of ministerial participation in the various Justice and Home Affairs Councils of the EU, in internal G8 and G6 and in the INTERPOL General Assembly. Within the same role he actively participated in the negotiations for the cooperation agreements in matter of security and immigration, respectively with Tunisia in 2011 and Libya in 2009 and 2012.

In 2014 he was awarded the honour of “Cavaliere Ufficiale” of OMRI (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic).

In 2015 during EXPO he was Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Lombardy Region and, under the mandate of the Regional Council, he coordinated the activities to foster the internationalisation of enterprises and increase the networking on projects and initiatives to be developed at a EU level.

In 2016 he returned to the Farnesina at the Directorate General for the Promotion of the Sistema Paese, where he held the position of Coordinator of the major international activities of the Regions and local authorities.

He was appointed Consul General of Italy in London on 29th March 2018.

He is married and has one son.
