After the marriage has been celebrated, it is possible to contact this Consulate General to modify a previously chosen regime, for instance by changing from separation of property to community of property, or vice versa, or by choosing Italian law to govern the property regime of a marriage contracted abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The service for signing powers of attorney and notarial deeds at the Consulate General of Italy in London is reserved exclusively for Italian citizens who are residing abroad either permanently or temporarily (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.normattiva.it\/uri-res\/N2Ls?urn:nir:stato:decreto.legislativo:2011-02-03;71\">Legislative Decree 71\/2011<\/a>). Anyone unable to attend the Consulate may still obtain powers of attorney and notarial deeds valid in Italy by signing them before any British notary public and then having the document apostilled by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/get-document-legalised\">Legalisation Office (<\/a>many notaries also provide this service). A non-exhaustive list of notaries known to the Consulate is available <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/info-utili\/professionisti-ed-enti\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Booking Procedure and Cost of the Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The spouses concerned, at least one of whom must hold Italian citizenship, must request an appointment by writing to <a href=\"mailto:notarile.londra@esteri.it\">notarile.londra@esteri.it<\/a> and including the following information in the email:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First spouse\u2019s full name, date and place of birth, residential address, and Italian tax code (codice fiscale);<\/li>\n<li>Second spouse\u2019s full name, date and place of birth, residential address, and Italian tax code;<\/li>\n<li>Date and place of marriage;<\/li>\n<li>The Italian municipality (comune) where the marriage will be or has already been registered\/transcribed (including the registration details).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the request has been reviewed and accepted, the Office will reply by offering an appointment at the Consulate.<\/p>\n<p>Both spouses must attend the appointment and bring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The appointment confirmation email provided by the Office;<\/li>\n<li>A valid identity document;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the marriage certificate;<\/li>\n<li>A UK debit card for payment. The cost of the service is twice the amount indicated in Article 26 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/info-utili\/tariffe-consolari\/\">Consular Fees<\/a>. Please note that payments at the Consulate can only be made using a UK debit card (no contactless payments, no Apple Pay, no credit cards, and no Italian debit cards).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Use of the Declaration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the day of the appointment, the spouses will be issued an original copy of the declaration of separation of property or community of property.
