We will process the documents in approximately <b>twelve weeks<\/b>. A confirmation email will be sent to you. Please also check your spam mail.<\/p>\n<div id=\"page\" class=\"site\">\n<p>The Consulate<strong> will not reply<\/strong> to emails requesting confirmation of receipt of the documentation, as this information is available on the Royal Mail website page \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalmail.com\/track-your-item\">Track your item<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Instructions:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>fully complete the\u00a0application form for registration\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/16-Richiesta-trascrizione-atto-matrimonio.docx\">Form n. 16<\/a>). The application must be signed by both spouses;<\/li>\n<li>enclose:\u00a0<strong>PHOTOCOPY<\/strong> of ID Card or passport and a Certified Copy of an Entry of Marriage issued by the relevant Registry Office. The certificate needs to be original (photocopies are not acceptable) and complete with Apostille (International Legalisation). <strong>N.B.<\/strong> The Apostille legalises the signature of the British Register Office official (the person who has signed the Marriage certificate). We do <strong>not<\/strong> accept any Apostille that legalises the signature of notaries, solicitors or others. <strong>&#8220;Apostille&#8221; can be obtained from the Legalisation Office for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/get-document-legalised\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/get-document-legalised<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>For those states, signatories of the Hague Convention, legalisation is by apostille. For a list of those countries please consult their website. For all other states, the legalisation will be of a consular type, requested from the diplomatic mission in the country where the birth certificate is issued. For further details please consult the Embassies and Consulates in those states.<\/li>\n<li>attach a <strong>typed<\/strong> translation (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">handwritten translations will not be accepted<\/span>) of the marriage certificate in Italian &#8211; the Apostille is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>not<\/strong><\/span> translated (<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/info-utili\/professionisti-ed-enti\/\">please click here for a List of Certified Translators<\/a>)\u00a0<strong>THE CERTIFICATE MUST BE FULLY TRANSLATED &#8211; THIS CONSULATE DOES NOT CARRY OUT TRANSLATIONS<\/strong>. The translation can be done by oneself only if it is true to the original.\u00a0<strong>PLEASE NOTE<\/strong>: in the case of certificates issued by authorities other than British, it is always necessary to obtain the services of a professional translator. In fact the services of a professional translator are always advised, so as not to end up with translation errors, which would preclude the registration by the Municipalities in Italy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: please be informed also that in case of a marriage occurring in a<strong>\u00a0foreign country other than the United Kingdom<\/strong>, you must obtain a proper legalisation\u00a0<strong>both<\/strong> for your marriage certificate and translation of the same. Said legalisation and translation can be provided only by the appropriate Italian Consulate or Embassy located in the relevant country (for instance : Pakistan &#8211; Embassy of Italy in Islamabad). PLEASE NOTE! Kindly <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">consult the website of the competent Italian diplomatic Mission <\/span>in the country where the certificate was issued for clarification regarding the <strong>documentation to be submitted, the translation requirements, and the necessary legalizations<\/strong>.<!--EndFragment --><\/li>\n<li>Marriage certificates issued by those states that have signed the Vienna Convention of 08.09.1976 are exempt from legalisation\/\u201dApostille\u201d and translation. <strong>The states party to the Convention are:<\/strong> <em>Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.\u00a0<\/em><strong>Please note that Albania<\/strong> is not a party to the abovementioned Convention and therefore\u00a0 pluringual registry exacts will need an Apostille, together with a translation in Italian (<strong>apostille is required<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>please post all the above documentation to: <strong>CONSOLATO GENERALE D\u2019ITALIA \u2013 LONDRA<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Ufficio Stato Civile<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>83\/86 Farringdon Street<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>EC4A 4BL &#8211; London<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Prestamped Special Delivery envelope fo any modifications\/amendments required.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note that if all the documentation is complete and correct and we positively process the application, this Consulate will\u00a0<strong>NOT<\/strong> return any paperwork submitted.
