For those who are not registered under the London catchment area, some authentication or legalisation services are available by contacting the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/\">Notary Office<\/a> via email.<\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\" aria-label=\"Testo tradotto\" data-ved=\"2ahUKEwj-s7mN-pqIAxWcT0EAHQSCCg8Q3ewLegQIChAU\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">In order to issue a passport for a child, photo legalization is mandatory only <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for minors aged 0 to 11<\/span>, while for <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">minors aged between 12 and 17, fingerprinting must be done at the Consulate as part of the passsport application<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><strong>IN ORDER TO ISSUE A PASSPORT THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">At least one parent must be registered in the AIRE portal;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you are applying for a\u00a0<strong>first child passport<\/strong>\u00a0and their birth certificate has not been registered in Italy yet, please carefully read \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino\/stato-civile\/come-registrare-una-nascita-in-italia\/\">How to register a birth in Italy<\/a>\u201d in the Registry Office section;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>If your child was born in Italy<\/strong>, the birth is automatically registered and you can apply directly for a passport;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>If your child was born abroad,\u00a0<\/strong>you must request at the Consulate the registration of the birth following\u00a0<strong>carefully this procedure<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino\/stato-civile\/registering-a-birth-in-italy-minors\/\">Registrare la nascita (e richiedere il primo passaporto) \u2013 Consolato Generale d\u2019Italia Londra (esteri.it)<\/a> \u00a0in order to avoid the return of incorrect documentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>AUTHENTICATION OF A SIGNATURE<\/strong> <strong>(Passport for minors between 0 and 17 years of age)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The parents\u2019 consent is\u00a0<strong>always required for the issuance of a passport to a minor<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIt is irrelevant whether the parents are married, cohabiting, separated, divorced, or are natural parents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the parent giving consent is an\u00a0<strong>EU national<\/strong>, they can simply complete and sign the relevant application form <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">MOD2<\/a> (for minors between 12 and 17 years of age) or the application form <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">MOD3<\/a> (for minors between 0 and 11 years of age) and enclose a photocopy of a valid EU passport or national EU ID card where the signature is visible, so that it can be compared to the one on the form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the parent giving consent is a <strong>non-EU national<\/strong> (including British), their signature on the <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">MOD2<\/a> form (for minors aged 12 to 17) the <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">MOD3<\/a> form (for minors aged 0 to 11) or the specific <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">AUT1<\/a> document, must be witnessed by a public officer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>This can be done by bringing their original and valid passport<\/strong>\u00a0in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>AT THIS CONSULATE GENERAL IN LONDON:\n<ul>\n<li>for minors between <strong>0 and 11 years<\/strong> of age: on <strong>Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14.30 to 15.30 <\/strong>without appointment;<\/li>\n<li>for minors between <strong>12 and 17 years<\/strong> of age: on <strong>Wednesdays<\/strong> and <strong>Fridays<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>from 14.30 to 15.30<\/strong>, together with the minor, during the walk-in service for the issuance of their passport;<\/li>\n<li>for minors between <strong>12 and 17 years<\/strong> of age: on <strong>Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14.30 to 15.30<\/strong>\u00a0(without appointment);<\/li>\n<li>for minors between <strong>12 and 17 years<\/strong> of age: on the day of the minor&#8217;s appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">WITHOUT COMING TO LONDON:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">at one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-rete-consolare\/consoli-onorari-e-agenti-consolari-2\/\"><strong>Honorary Consulates or Consular Agencies<\/strong><\/a> of our consular network;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">with any <strong>British notary public<\/strong>. The declaration certified by the notary must then be legalised by the Legalisation Office of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/get-document-legalised\">Get your document legalised<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">before a public official in Italy;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the non-EU parent is in a country other than Italy or the UK, before an officer of the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate or before a local authority (e.g.: government official or public notary). In the latter case, legalization or apostille may be required, depending on existing international agreements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IF ONE OF THE PARENTS IS DECEASED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Copy of their death certificate must also be submitted (<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino\/assistenza-ai-cittadini-allestero\/registrare-un-certificato-di-morte-britannico-in-italia\/\">How to register a British death certificate<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IN THE ABSENCE OF THE OTHER PARENT&#8217;S CONSENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The applicant parent may submit a formal request to the Consul General seeking a consular order and stating the reasons why it is needed. The Consul General acts as a Judge for minors residing in this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-rete-consolare\/\"><u>consular district<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The process includes individual interviews with each parent, and a subsequent hearing in person at the Consulate which must be attended by both parents and the child\/children in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The formal request is subject to a<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/info-utili\/tariffe-consolari\/\">\u00a0<u>consular fee<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(art. 31).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note that processing time may vary due to individual circumstances and cannot be estimated in advance. The time and outcome of the application depends on the completion of the necessary steps required by Italian legislation and the collaboration of the other parent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prospective applicant is advised to contact in advance the Welfare Department by email:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:sociale.londra@esteri.it\">sociale.londra@esteri.it<\/a>\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>PHOTO LEGALISATION (AFFIDAVIT &#8211; Passport for minors between 0 and 17 years of age)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The photo of the minor\u00a0<u>must be authenticated<\/u>\u00a0in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">BY COMING TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL IN LONDON<\/span>:\n<ul>\n<li>One of the parents must come to the London Consulate General with the minor, without an appoitment, on <strong>Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14.30 to 15.30<\/strong>. Please submit:\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">MOD3<\/a>\u00a0application form;<\/li>\n<li>3 identical photos of the minor;<\/li>\n<li>The original and valid passport or ID of the parent;<\/li>\n<li>The previous passport of the minor, if applicable (even if it is expired or deteriorated);<\/li>\n<li>If it is the first passport, another valid ID document.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">WITHOUT COMING TO THE LONDON CONSULATE GENERAL (if you choose it be done by a third party)<\/span>:\n<ul>\n<li>By having it countersigned by a\u00a0<strong>British or EU national.<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/modulistica\/modulistica-passaporti\/\">AFT2<\/a>\u00a0form must be accompanied by proof of their profession and photocopy of their valid ID document (passport or national ID card) page with photo and signature. As laid down by British legislation, the countersignatory must:\n<ul>\n<li>have known the parents for at least two years (it could be a friend, neighbour, or colleague);<\/li>\n<li>not be related to you;<\/li>\n<li>be \u2018a person of good standing\u2019 in their community;<\/li>\n<li>have a recognised profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px; text-align: justify;\">The British authorities have published a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/countersigning-passport-applications\/accepted-occupations-for-countersignatories\">non-exhaustive list<\/a>\u00a0which includes teachers, dentists, pharmacists, photographers, civil servants etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PLEASE NOTE This service is only available for those registered on AIRE under the London catchment area.
