{"id":433,"date":"2022-08-08T17:05:06","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T15:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino\/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-dei-documenti\/"},"modified":"2026-03-02T15:59:01","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T14:59:01","slug":"traduzione-e-legalizzazione-dei-documenti","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino\/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-dei-documenti\/","title":{"rendered":"Translation and legalisation of documents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please note that <strong>this Consulate General does not provide translation services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This Consulate does not certify (attest) the conformity of translations<\/strong> either, except in the following two cases:<br \/>\n\u2022 Declarations of value for British educational qualifications<br \/>\n\u2022 Civil status records of Italian citizens fo<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">r the purpose of registration in Italy<\/span> by this Consulate General<\/p>\n<p>Please note that translations of <strong>civil status documents issued in the United Kingdom<\/strong> and submitted to the Consulate in London for transmission to Italian Municipalities <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>do not need<\/strong><strong> to include:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the translator\u2019s personal details;<\/li>\n<li>a declaration that the document is a true copy;<\/li>\n<li>certification of the translator\u2019s signature;<\/li>\n<li>confirmation of the translator\u2019s professional affiliation;<\/li>\n<li>apostille.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Translations of <strong>documents <\/strong>in English <strong>issued in other countries<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cannot be certified by this Consulate<\/span>. They must instead be carried out <strong>in the country where the document was issued<\/strong> and legalized by the Italian diplomatic or consular mission with jurisdiction over that territory.<\/p>\n<p>Those who need <strong>to translate British documents from English into Italian <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for other purposes<\/span> may choose one of the following options:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use a sworn translator in Italy \u2013 lists of sworn translators are available at Italian Courts (this translation <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">has no legal value unless it is sworn before a Court or a notary<\/span>);<\/li>\n<li>Have a translation (already prepared) sworn before an Italian Court, an Italian Municipality, or a notary.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Those who need to <strong>translate Italian documents into English<\/strong> may contact a translator found online or one of the translators \u00a0on the Consulate\u2019s list of translators &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/conslondra.esteri.it\/en\/info-utili\/professionisti-ed-enti\/\"><strong>professionals and institutions<\/strong><\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Please note that this Consulate General does not provide translation services.
