The Consul General of Italy in London<\/st1:City>, Mr Massimiliano Mazzanti, is pleased to announce that the Italian<\/st1:PlaceName> Republic<\/st1:PlaceType> has appointed Mr Gaetano Moliterno as Honorary Consul in Bedford<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>. Following the granting of the necessary exequatur\u00a0 <\/SPAN>by the British Authorities, Mr Moliterno signed the relevant appointment decree at the Consulate General in London<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> on 6th<\/SUP> March 2014, thus officially taking office.

<\/FONT><\/SPAN>Mr Gaetano Moliterno, Honorary Consul in Bedford<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, besides fulfilling general tasks involving the safeguard of national interests and the protection of Italian nationals, carries out wide and specific functions as listed in the Gazzetta Ufficiale<\/I> no.18 of 23 January 2014 (<\/FONT><\/SPAN>www.gazzettaufficiale.biz\/atti\/2014\/20140018\/14A00204.htm<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/A>).

<\/FONT><\/SPAN>Because the powers of the Honorary Consul do not include the capturing of biometrical data for the issue of passports, the Consul General in London<\/st1:City> authorises regular visits by a consular officer in Bedford<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> based on the appointments made by Honorary Consul Moliterno. The above service is only for the elderly or those unable to come to London<\/st1:City>, and is only for those Italians registered with the AIRE office living in the Bedford<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> area.
