New passport procedure for applicants living in Bedford, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool

On September the 30th, 2014 the Italian Ambassador, Pasquale Terracciano, presented the new pilot project to the Italian community in Birmingham, which  allows Italians residing in the areas of Bedford, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool to submit their passport applications without having to come to the Consulate General in London

Due to the high number of applicants living in the UK, the network of the honorary consulates in England and Wales has been selected by the Directorate General for Italian Citizens Living Abroad and Migration Policies (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) for a project which allows Italians in Bedford, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool to go – upon prior appointment – to the relevant consular honorary offices, where passport applicants will have their biometric data captured.

The passport will be issued within the timeframe stipulated by Law 1185/67 (a maximum of 30 days from the date the application is received by the Consulate General of Italy in London) and sent to the applicants by post.

Please note that to be able to use the above service, Italian nationals will have to make an appointment by phone by contacting the honorary consular office nearest to them. Priority will be given to Italian nationals who are 60 years of age and over and to those who have a medical certificate attesting their mobility problems.
