The States party listed in alphabetical order are: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.
Please submit the below-listed documentation:
- APPLICATION FORM No.16 (editable pdf) duly completed with all requested information (place and date of the marriage, both spouses’ previous marriages and divorces) and signed by both spouses.
Please provide a legible email address where the Consulate will send a copy of the communication transmitted to the Municipality (Comune) via certified email (PEC). Moreover, please provide a postal address to be used in case incomplete and/or incorrect documentation needs to be returned to the sender;
- ORIGINAL (not photocopy) of the multilingual marriage certificate. These certificates are exempt from both the legalisation/Apostille and the translation into Italian;
- PHOTOCOPY ONLY of the page with photo and signature of both spouses’ In case of discrepancies in the personal details between the certificate and the current passport, please also attach a copy of the passport showing the corresponding personal data;
- PRESTAMPED SPECIAL DELIVERY ENVELOPE which should include the FULL name, postal address in the UK to be used for the return of any incomplete and not-compliant documentation to the sender.
Please visit the Registry Office section of the website of the Italian diplomatic or consular Representation that has jurisdiction over the country where the marriage was celebrated or the certificates were issued for clarification regarding the documentation to be submitted, the translation requirements, and the necessary legalisations as well as for instructions on how to submit the request to that Consular Office.
