NOTICE:

IN ORDER TO ISSUE A PASSPORT THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET
- The minor needs to be registered in the London AIRE catchment area;
- At least one parent has to be registered in the London AIRE catchment area;
- Accompanied by at least one parent or a person holding parental responsibility;
- Ensure that the minor’s birth certificate has been registered at your municipality in Italy;
- The applicant must have had a previous Italian passport, even if expired (it is not possible to use the channel for the first Italian passport).
CONSULATE ACCESS PROCEDURES
- Only on Wednesday between 14:00-15:00 (except 27 May 2026).

PASSPORT ISSUANCE
- The passport is normally issued the same day unless any problem prevents the issue of the passport.
METHOD OF PAYMENT
- British debit card (we do not accept contactless payment, credit card, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay). Check the correct amount on our website at the Consular fees.
CHECK LIST
You need to come to the counter with the relevant forms already completed. Please note that if the documentation is incomplete or incorrect your application will be rejected.
- MOD2 application form, DULY COMPLETED, printed and signed by both parents (the signatures must correspond to those on the attached passport/ID copy);
- British debit card (WE DO NOT ACCEPT CONTACTLESS PAYMENT, CREDIT CARD, AMEX, APPLE PAY, GOOGLE PAY). Check the correct amount on our website at the Consular fees;
- If a parent giving consent is a non EU national, which includes British nationals, please refers to signature authentication(the signatures must correspond to those on the attached passport/ID copy) ;
- 3 recent identical passport-size photos (taken within six months) compliant with the international ICAO standards (white background only, NO USB);
- Both parents’ valid and original ID (passport or Italian ID card. Driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted);
- Previous original passport (expired or deteriorated or, if this is your first italian passport, national ID card or other original passport. Driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted). Please note that the previous italian passport, if possessed, will be retained by the Office for revocation and will be sent to the owner together with the new one;
- In case of minor’s passport expired more than 10 years ago or the minor cannot be identified from the photo, you will need to submit another valid original foreign passport or an italian ID card of the minor (driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted);
- In case of lost / stolen minor’s passport, please provide a British Police online report and the relevant Italian lost/stolen passport form ETD2.
IN THE ABSENCE OF THE OTHER PARENT’S CONSENT
The applicant parent may submit a formal request to the Consul General seeking a consular order and stating the reasons why it is needed. The Consul General acts as a Judge for minors residing in this consular district.
- The process includes individual interviews with each parent, and a subsequent hearing in person at the Consulate which must be attended by both parents and the child/children in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.
- The formal request is subject to a consular fee (art. 31).
- Please note that processing time may vary due to individual circumstances and cannot be estimated in advance. The time and outcome of the application depends on the completion of the necessary steps required by Italian legislation and the collaboration of the other parent.

In the event of the death of one of the parents, the original death certificate, apostilled and translated as outlined here, will need to be submitted (but only if it has not been registered at the relevant municipality in Italy yet).
