What SPID is: SPID (Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale, Italian for Public System of Digital Identity) is a unique and personal credential that allows Italian citizens to access online services of the Public Administration and private members using a unique digital identity.
An Italian citizen may need to acquire SPID to communicate with the Public Administration, access documents and practices, request certificates and declarations, check their own fiscal status and carry out many other operations.
SPID has replaced the previous PIN system for the access to Fisconline services, hence this Consulate cannot issue PIN codes anymore.
Who can apply for SPID: Any Italian citizen (also those who live abroad) who has:
- a valid Italian identity document (Electronic Identity Card, passport, Italian driving licence);
- certification of Italian tax code (Electronic Identity Card, Italian TEAM, Italian Tax Code card, Italian Tax Code certificate);
- email address;
- personal mobile phone number.
How to apply for SPID: prospective applicants must apply for their personal identification with one of the official AgID providers independently of the Consulate. We recommend prospective applicants to verify which provider offers the procedure most suitable to their case, as requirements may vary.
