The tax code is the citizen’s means of identification in relation with all Italian authorities and public administrations.
APPLICATION FOR ITALIAN NATIONALS
Italian nationals legally residing in the London consular district and registered in AIRE will be able to download the tax code certificate using the Fast It Portal.
How?
- Log in to the Fast It portal;
- Click on “Consular Register And AIRE”, then click on “Request Fiscal Code”;
- Confirm your details and submit your request;
- Download your tax code certificate.
If you cannot download your tax code certificate:
- Register or log in to your Fast It account;
- Request your “Account association” by clicking on “Consular Register And AIRE”, then click on “View your personal file in the Consular Registry” and submit your request;
- Within two working days you should receive an email confirming the account association;
- Log in again and follow the steps above to download your certificate.
If your wish to apply for a child born abroad please ensure that:
- The birth certificate has been registered with the Municipality in Italy. See how to register a birth in Italy.
- The child is registered in AIRE. See how to register a minor
After receiving confirmation from the Italian Municipality that the birth is registered and that the AIRE registration is completed, the parent will be able to log in using his/her account and download the certificate.
If you wish to apply for a child born in Italy, the birth is automatically registered. Please only ensure that the child is registered in AIRE (as stated in point 2).
APPLICATION FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS
Foreign nationals living in the UK can apply for the Tax Code in Italy:
- Students who need the Tax Code for pre-enrolment at the University can obtain it automatically on the UNIVERSITALY Portal during the pre-enrolment application. The attribution of the Tax Code can be completed by:
- non-EU students at the Single Immigration Desk (Sportello Unico dell’Immigrazione) or at the Police Headquarters (Questura) at the time of applying for the residence permit;
- EU students at the Italian Revenue Agency by submitting the AA4/8 form. The addresses of the offices of the Italian Revenue Agency agenziaentrate.it
- Foreign citizens who need the Tax Code for the purchase of real estate property or for other commercial/financial assets in Italy can delegate one of their representatives to request the Tax Code from the Italian Revenue Agency on their behalf.
- Citizens of non-EU countries who intend to stay in Italy are assigned the Tax Code:
- by the Single Immigration Desk, present in each Prefettura and responsible for issuing entry clearance (nulla osta) to foreign citizens who apply for a residence permit for employment or family reunification;
- by the Police Headquarters (Questura), State Police office, for foreign citizens who apply for other types of residence permits.
- Citizens of EU countries who intend to stay in Italy can apply for the Tax Code by submitting the AA4/8 form to a territorial office of the Italian Revenue Agency agenziaentrate.it. The request must be motivated and accompanied by a valid document (passport or identity card valid for expatriation).
In specific case foreign nationals living in the London consular district, can apply for an Italian Tax Code ONLY when the Tax Code is necessary for online procedures and/or if unable to delegate a person to submit the request to the Italian Revenue Agency (in Italy). In such cases the Consular Office will forward the request to the Italian Revenue Agency.
The application for the Italian Tax Code, can be submitted to cf.londra@esteri.it by filling out the AA4/8 form with the following documentations:
- proof of address within London consular district.
- copy of passport.
- information about the reason for the Tax Code request.
SPECIAL CASES
Applications on behalf of a deceased person: please contact us at cf.londra@esteri.it providing a copy of the following:
- identity document of the deceased person;
- death certificate;
- applicant’s passport;
- a recent proof of address in the name of the applicant.
