Italian postal bonds/Savings books

Refund of Postal Bonds and Postal savings Book for Italian nationals living abroad.

A) Refund of Postal Savings Bonds

Poste Italiane S.P.A. (The Italian Postal Service) can refund the Postal Bonds owned in Italy by Italian and foreign nationals living abroad, directly onto their bank account.

The following documents are required:

  • Form W14 from “Poste Italiane” S.P.A., click here, to be filled in by the applicant;
  • Form All.1 to choose which way to collect the money, click here;

There are two ways to collect the money:

  • a) receive a cheque by post from “Ente Poste” S.P.A. at the applicant’s address;
  • b) receive a bank transfer from “Ente Poste” S.P.A. sent directly into the bank account of the applicant. Please use form All. 2 (click here)

It is important that you complete the form correctly and in full, paying attention to writing the correct account sort code and number, the account holder’s name, the “Swift Code” (international bank code) and all the relevant contacts of the bank such as address, telephone and fax.

Please note that any bank charges imposed by the foreign bank will be borne by the applicant.

Postal Bonds and Postal Savings Book have to be submitted in original
(No photocopy will be accepted)

Applicants can book an appointment writing to our Notary Department (notarile.londra@esteri.it). The day of the appointment, they must bring their valid Italian ID document (Passport or Italian Identity card) and their Italian tax code (called “codice fiscale”) with the required forms, already filled in but NOT SIGNED, PLEASE. The forms need to be signed before an Italian Consular Officer in charge.

B) INHERITED POSTAL BONDS OR POSTAL SAVING BOOKS

In addition to the above mentioned documentation the applicant will need to send the following to Ente Poste Italiane S.P.A.:

  • 1) the deceased person’s death certificate that must have been registered in Italy;
  • 2) Self-declaration (affidavit), listing all the heirs and their relationship to the deceased person (click here).

Please note that the signature on each application form can also be authenticated by a British Notary Public. In this case the documents need to be legalised with an Apostille. For this service please refer to
