Upon request from the holder, Poste Italiane S.p.A. can arrange the repayment of postal savings instruments held in Italy by Italian or foreign citizens residing abroad, directly into their foreign or Italian bank account.
Interested parties can find all information regarding the procedures currently in force directly on the Poste Italiane website. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the information provided by Poste Italiane carefully, as this Consulate is neither responsible for nor competent in these procedures and cannot provide assistance in the event of questions or uncertainties.
Likewise, the Consulate cannot assist with the completion of forms or powers of attorney relating to the withdrawal of funds or redemption of savings instruments. Any questions should be addressed directly to Poste Italiane or to private professionals, find the list here.
However, Italian citizens may obtain the following services at this Consulate:
- Authentication of their signature on documents provided by Poste Italiane;
- Execution of special powers of attorney for the collection of postal savings bonds and postal savings passbooks.
- Signature Authentication
Italian citizens who hold savings products with Poste Italiane and wish to have their signature authenticated at this Consulate may request an appointment by emailing: notarile.londra@esteri.it
Documents Required at the Appointment
- A valid Italian identity document;
- Forms and/or documents provided by Poste Italiane, printed and fully completed, but not signed or dated;
- A UK debit card for payment of the consular fees relating to signature authentication (Article 24 of the Consular Fees). Please note that payments at the Consulate can only be made using a UK debit card (no contactless payments, no Apple Pay, no credit cards, and no Italian payment cards).
Foreign citizens and Italian citizens who are unable to attend the Consulate may contact any British notary public to obtain authentication of their signature; and the necessary legalization by apostille to make the documents valid in Italy.
