Applications to the Consul General as Guardianship Judge

Parents or other persons exercising parental responsibility for Italian minors who reside within the jurisdiction of this Consulate General; and are registered with AIRE (Register of Italians Resident Abroad), must submit an application to the Consul General, acting in the capacity of Guardianship Judge (Giudice Tutelare), before carrying out certain financial or property transactions that go beyond ordinary administration.

How to Book an Appointment and Service Fee

Applicants must request an appointment by emailing: notarile.londra@esteri.it. The appointment request must include the following attachments:

1.Application form submitted in Microsoft Word format and prepared by adapting one of the following templates to your particular circumstances:

All relevant supporting documents must also be attached to the email. Once the application has been reviewed and considered admissible, the Office will schedule an appointment

Please note: The Consul General may either approve the application as submitted; or refuse it if, after considering the minor’s best interests, the proposed transaction is not considered beneficial. The Consul General may also request additional documentation where necessary.

Documents Required at the Appointment

If the application is approved, both parents (or the parent who has sole parental responsibility) must attend the appointment and bring:

  • the appointment confirmation email issued by the Office;
  • a valid identity document;
  • the completed application;
  • all supporting documentation; and
  • a UK-issued debit card for payment. The fee for the service is the amount specified under Articles 31a and 31b(A) of the Consular Fees Schedule. Please note that payments at the Consulate can only be made using a UK-issued debit card. The following payment methods are not accepted (Contactless payments, Apple Pay, Credit cards, Italian-issued bank cards).
