IN ORDER TO ISSUE A PASSPORT THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET:
- The applicant needs to be registered in the London AIRE catchment area;
- The applicant’s birth certificate must be registered at his/her municipality in Italy;
- The old passport must have less than 6 months of residual validity.
CONSULATE ACCESS PROCEDURES:
- Only on the day of the appointment between 14:45-16:30.

PASSPORT ISSUANCE:
- The passport is not issued the same day. It will be mailed to the address indicated on the envelope in 2 weeks.
PAYMENT until the 9th of February 2025:
- POSTAL ORDER made payable to “Italian Consulate General”. Check the correct amount on our website at the Consular fees section. The new rates are published 10-15 days before the new quarters which start on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st.
PAYMENT from the 10th of February 2025:
- BANK TRANSFER for each passport
- Account name: CONSULATE GENERAL OF ITALY IN LONDON

- Amount: Consular fees – Consolato Generale d’Italia Londra. The new rates are published 10-15 days before the new quarters which start on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st.

The bank transfers have to be finalized no later than 5 days before the appointment date, taking into account the banking credit times. Faster payment methods are strongly advised. However, whichever bank transfer method is chosen, the applicant is required to ensure that the amount due is credited at the very latest the day before the appointment.
The applicants must show up on the day of the appointment with the printed bank certificate/receipt confirming the bank transfer. The service will otherwise not be provided.

Please note that if the documentation is incomplete or incorrect your application will be rejected.

- From the 10th of February 2025: printed bank receipt of payment. Check the correct amount on our website at the Consular fees section;
- MOD1 application form for adults, DULY COMPLETED and printed;
- Nr. 2 recent identical passport-size photos (taken within six months) compliant with the international ICAO standards (white background only);
- Previous original passport (expired or deteriorated or, if not available, national ID card or other original passport. Driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted);
- In case of lost / stolen passport, please provide a British Police online report and the relevant Italian lost/stolen passport form DEN1;
- In case this is your first Italian passport, you will need to submit an Italian ID card or a valid original foreign passport (driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted);
- In case of passport expired more than 10 years ago or you cannot be identified from the photo, you will need to submit another valid original foreign passport or italian ID card (driving licence or Oyster card are not accepted);
- Prepaid Special Delivery envelope (up to 500g) purchasable at any post office.
HOW TO ADD MARRIED SURNAME:
- An Italian woman who is legally married, can retain her maiden name in her passport and other IDs. However, she may choose (but it is not mandatory) to have her married surname on the passport. An annotation on page 4 of her passport will be added. In order to add the married surname, the marriage certificate must already have been transcribed with this Consulate or with the Italian Autorities.
If the marriage has not yet been registered, it is necessary to first request the transcription of the marriage certificate through the Civil Registry Office of this Consulate following these instructions.
